Beacons Run in Final CCC Prep Race

Eugene, OR  - The Northwest Christian College distance track teams ran at Mt. Hood Community College on Saturday in the Saints and Cavaliers Invitational, the final warm-up event leading up to the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships on May 8th.

 

Bethany Howard and Jessica Rose took 5th and 6th place respectively in the 5000m. Howard, running the 5k for the first time, finished in 20:28 while Rose followed at 20:32. Emily Baynes set a new PR in the 1500m run, taking seventh place in 5:25.

 

Also setting a new personal record was Josh Waring (pictured), who finished 21st in the 800m run with a time of 2:10, shaving ten seconds off of his previous PR. A pair of men ran in the 5000m, led by Sam Robison in seventh place with a time of 16:40. Brandon Kundert followed in ninth place at 17:21.

 

The Beacons will head back to the same Gresham, OR track on May 8th to begin competition in the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships. Prior to that, Jason Bell and Katie Gilbert will be participating in the Eugene Marathon this Saturday.
