Eugene, OR - Men’s golfer Justin Ahrens and women’s golfer Ashley King each finished in the top-five among Cascade Collegiate Conference golfers this week at the NAIA Region I tournament, earning First-Team All-Conference honors.
Ahrens shot a 12-over par 228 over the tournament and tied for second-place among conference opponents after firing a 76 in round three on Tuesday. Ahrens was followed by Brent McKee, who shot a 231 for the tournament and earned Second-Team All-Conference honors. Also played for the men’s team were Josh Samples (+27, 243) and Jeremy Chappell (249), along with Jordan Whittenburg, who shot an 84 in the opening round to score as one of the teams top-four for the first time this season.
King took third-place among CCC foes, shooting a 85-83-80=248. Jordie Howell, who smashed her career best round with a 94 in the second round, finished with a 97 in round three, which was good enough to place her tenth among conference opponents to also earn Second-Team All-Conference recognition. Following right behind in 11th was Reanna Huston at 249, after shooting a 96 in the third round. Colleen Koopal rounded out the scoring for NCC with a 109-106-112=327.
The books have closed on the 2007-2008 golf seasons as the Regional tournament was the last scheduled competition for the Beacons this season.
