How much studying is required outside of the classroom? Students should prepare to spend 13-15 hours each week outside of the classroom in preparation for class.
Are Project Teams critical for my success in this program? Yes, Project Teams are an integral part of the success of the NCC educational model. Project Teams function as a support mechanism through which students can learn from the professional expertise of their peers. Working adults seldom have the time needed for pursuing a full-time, formal education. Through the sharing of combined talents, experience and learning resources of the Project Team, a system of trust and support is able to develop the educational process so that it becomes more efficient and effective.
How many hours a week will I need to dedicate to involvement with my Project Team? The time commitment to the Project Team will vary from course to course. While there is no specific meeting requirement, generally the time committment will average approximately six to eight hours per week.
When can I get started in the program? Almost immediately! Our Professional Studies Program has rolling admissions. This makes your application extremely important to us in setting a date for your classes to begin. It could happen within a month or two of your application date.
What happens if I need to miss a night of class? Class attendance and project team participation are mandatory. However, an absence may be excused by notifying your instructor in advance of the course beginning. A maximum of one absence is allowed within a five-week course. Each course syllabus will outline institution policies.
So how much does it cost? The major courses cost $464 per credit which includes all books and fees. If bridge courses are required, they are offered for $250 per credit. Portfolio credits cost $75 and there is an application fee of $25.
Is financial aid available? Yes! Financial aid is available for those that qualify. As a part-time or full-time student you may have the option to apply for grants and loans. Contact the Northwest Christian College Financial Aid Department at 541-684-7203 or toll free 1-877-INFO-NCC if you have specific questions.
How does financial aid affect my payment plan? If your financial aid forms are complete and have been processed, those funds will be applied to your remaining payments as they are due.
Can I really do this at this point in my life? Yes! It is possible because adult students are typically more motivated and responsible than when they were younger and have the tremendous time management skills needed to be successful in an accelerated adult program. |
