Are you fascinated by the way that some people are able to communicate effectively? Do you see the power and responsibility of being able to influence others to different thinking or actions? If you would like to learn the art of using verbal and non-verbal language to inform, express, persuade, or reflect various ideas and messages, then Northwest Christian's communications major is for you.
Communication students at Northwest Christian College learn how messages influence people’s behavior. They also look at why various groups of a population are influenced by different messages. Communication majors spend a significant amount of time studying forms of oral and written communication and the strategies speakers and writers use to make their points and drive them home. As a practical application, communication majors at Northwest Christian can choose between concentrations in speech and journalism.
At Northwest Christian College, you will become a practitioner of effective communication preparing you for success in whatever career may follow, all in classes where a Christian and Liberal arts foundation will ensure that your work is ethical and conducted in a way that is consistent with the highest Christian character. Majors:
- Communications (BA)
- Concentrations in Journalism and Speech
Campus Activities Students on campus can hone their skills by writing for the Mishpat, the student newspaper—or other publications including The Mustard Seed, a journal of creative writing. Other opportunities include the Rice- Siefke Institute of Preaching, The Bash Whistler Bible Reading Contest, and forensic competitions.
