Career Development
The Career Development office is a valuable resource for Music Industry majors. You can receive assistance as you plan your musical future and help you meet working professionals who can share their stories about how they got started in their career. Career Development also assists in the Internship program, in which every student will participate during their senior year. You could have the opportunity to work with music professionals in a recording studio, professional sound company, or other music occupation.
Success in Business
During your time at Northwest Christian you will also complete a minor degree in Business. If you are in the artist track, your emphasis will be in marketing, and in the management track, your emphasis will be in business administration. You will take classes in marketing, sales strategies, advertising, statistics, and finance to help you succeed in the business world.
Junior/Senior Projects
During your junior year, the artist track student will record a demo CD and create an artist marketing package for yourself. In the management track, you will create that marketing package for another artist. During your senior year, you will finish your CD and a website. You will also book, promote and oversee a concert tour as your Senior Performance.
Contemporary Music Center
During your senior year, you will have the option to participate in the Christian College Coalition's Contemporary Music Center in Martha's Vineyard. This program gives students the opportunity to spend a semester studying, living, and, working with faculty, music industry experts, and other students who share an interest in making and marketing contemporary music. It is a chance to devote time to discovering how God would integrate faith and love of music in the marketplace. The program is for any student considering a career as a musician, vocalist, songwriter, producer, engineer, artist manager, booking agent, A&R director, marketing executive, music publisher, concert promoter or entertainment industry entrepreneur.
