Library Staff

Steve has been library director since February, 2007. He oversees library operations and works with faculty, administrators, and library staff to ensure that the library is best meeting current needs as well as planning for the future. He oversees the library’s special collections, including the archives for the college, a Rare Book and Bible collection, museum, and other special literary collections. He represents the library and its interests to the broader campus community, as well as interpreting campus interests within the context of library services and resources. Steve is available for help with research or information literacy questions from faculty or students.

Karen Head supervises and trains 12 student workers in the circulation department who value library users and strive to serve everyone in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner. Karen’s department is responsible for circulating books and reserve items as well as processing journals and interlibrary loan/call slip requests.

Vicki Becker is the assistant to the Library Director. Her responsibilities reach every aspect of the library and many additional departments on campus. As the center of communication, she supports the entire library staff as well as supervises and trains two student workers.

Debbie Caudill oversees the operations of the Technical Services Department and the work of three student workers. Debbie and her staff provide a high level of service to the campus library community by ensuring that all library materials are efficiently budgeted, tracked, acquired, cataloged, and processed in a clear and consistent way in order to facilitate convenient access to the best possible information resources available. The staff of Technical Services is also an experienced source of knowledge and support for the library and campus community and is available for assistance to staff, students, and faculty as the need arises.

Scott Gallagher-Starr provides library reference and instructional support to the entire NCC community, both on and off campus.  He is responsible for classroom instruction on library topics, collection development for the Arts and Humanities and Business schools, and library support for traditional and non-traditional students.
