NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE PROFESSOR WRITES AWARD WINNING ONE-ACT PLAY

EUGENE, Ore. –April 2, 2007, -Northwest Christian College-

Northwest Christian College professor, Rev. Dr. Ken Henry, won first-place in the Regent University one-act play writing contest. The play, “AfterLife,” takes place in a trailer park and is about a minister seeking to become a pastor. He encounters a fortune-teller and a weightlifter, and then asks questions about life, death, the afterlife, and faith.  The play is about wrestling with one’s faith. This is Professor Henry’s first play.

He entered the contest in September 2006 after receiving several mailers encouraging contest entry.  His play won first-place in the contest, and he received a prize for his play, and the chance to have his play produced at the Regent festival in 2008.

When asked about the inspiration for his play, Rev. Dr. Henry said, “I was inspired after watching several plays in Ashland at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  I went out and bought books on playwriting and a journal.  Then I just started writing.” Professor Henry has been a member of the Northwest Christian College faculty since 2004.
