Students who have completed all academic work towards a degree, or are currently enrolled in their remaining requirements, are invited to apply for participation in graduation ceremonies.
Students must successfully complete those remaining requirements prior to graduation in order to participate in the ceremony. Any student wishing to participate prior to having all requirements completed must submit, and have approved, a petition to participate in graduation.
Conferral Policy
The official date of graduation printed on a student's diploma and transcript reflects the term of time in which that student completed all required academic work. When completing the Application for Graduation, a student must select the graduation date in which his or her academic work is completed. A diploma is ordered based on this information. If the student does not complete his or her requirements by this date, a new diploma is ordered. Graduation dates are at the end of each academic semester as determined by the catalog.
Diplomas
Diplomas are mailed to eligible students in June and July. For students who complete their requirements in fall or summer semesters, their diplomas are usually available within four weeks after the semester is complete. Since diplomas are mailed, it is necessary for students to have correct address information on file with the Registrar's office. Students must clear all financial obligation with the college before they are eligible to receive their diplomas.
Latin Honors
Graduating seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher are recommended by the faculty for graduation with appropriate academic honor as follows:
- Cum laude: 3.50-3.69
- Magna cum laude: 3.70-3.89
- Summa cum laude: 3.90-4.00
All credits taken at NCC and all transferable credits from other colleges are computed to determine the cumulative GPA.
