WINSTED, CT — February 5, 2019 – Northwestern Connecticut Community College will host Fresh Check Day — a concept created by The Jordan Porco Foundation and designed to bring the whole campus community together to “check-in” on the mental health and wellness of college students. The event is free and has been organized by NCCC’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and Center for Student Development with collaborating campus departments at Northwestern Connecticut Community College, student volunteers, and representatives of The Jordan Porco Foundation.

Northwestern Connecticut Community College’s Fresh Check Day will take place on Wednesday, February 6th, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.  The Greenwoods Hall Multipurpose Room will be transformed into an expo-like atmosphere to bring together interactive exhibits combined with food, prizes, and giveaways. The booths feature peer-to peer messaging in a positive, community-focused setting. Food, fun activities, giveaways and information on community services will be provided. Should it rain, the event will be held on Thursday, February 7.

For more information about NCCC’s Fresh Check Day, please contact Dr. Ruth E. Gonzalez, Director of Student Development at rgonzalez@nwcc.edu or call 860-738-6315.
