NCCC SCHOLARSHIPS
Northwestern Connecticut Community College has a number of scholarship opportunities available for new, continuing and graduating students. NCCC scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit, demonstrated financial need and/or enrollment in a specific academic program at NCCC.
All current students who have completed the FAFSA will receive an email in February with additional information about institutional scholarships. To be considered for these awards, you must indicate your interest by responding to this message. A separate scholarship application is no longer required.
If you are unable to complete the FAFSA but wish to be considered for institutional scholarships, please contact the Scholarship Committee (NW-Scholarships@nwcc.commnet.edu) for further instructions.
Alison Jassen Scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional part-time student who is completing the prerequisites for the Nursing Program at Northwestern.
Alumni Association Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student with a 2.5 cumulative GPA who has been accepted to a four-year college or university and who has demonstrated personal attributes of character, service and leadership as evidenced by active involvement at NCCC.
Amy Loved Animals Scholarship is awarded to a student in Veterinary Technology or other academic program with a demonstrated history of volunteering or working to support the care and welfare of animals in their community.
Barbara Douglass Scholarship is awarded to a continuing nursing student who has shown tenacity and perseverance in working toward an academic or career goal.
Barkhamsted Lions – Lattizori Family Scholarship is awarded to a full or part-time student resident of Barkhamsted and is based on financial need and high academic achievement.
Carmine E. Cornelio Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student who is transferring to another college or university and is based on high academic achievement and financial need.
Catherine Ann Jespersen Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of Northwestern Regional HS. The recipient is selected by the HS principal on the basis of high academic achievement and must have a minimum of a cumulative “B” average.
Classified Staff Scholarship is awarded to a continuing, matriculated student at NCCC with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and who will be enrolled for at least 6 credits, and who does not qualify for federal grants (not including student loans) or other outside financial resources. Preference is given to a child/stepchild of a Classified Staff member.
Daniel H. & Ellen C. O’Grady Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a continuing or graduating student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 who plans to transfer to a four-year college, and who exhibits an inquisitive imagination coupled with a love of language and literature.
Draper Scholars Scholarships are awarded annually to incoming students with demonstrated high academic standing and financial need. These scholarships fund all tuition and fees (excluding lab, studio, and/or clinical fees) for a period up to two years (four semesters). Students must maintain good academic and general standing at NCCC and good citizenship in the community to continue his/her eligibility for this scholarship. Applicants must be graduates of The Gilbert School, Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Lewis S. Mills High School, Litchfield High School, Northwestern Regional High School District #7, Oliver Wolcott Technical School, Torrington High School, or Wamogo Regional High School.
George J. Atcheson Scholarship is awarded to a graduate with a high cumulative GPA who is transferring to a four-year college. Preference is given to a mathematics or science major or veteran of the armed forces.
George L. Sherwood Scholarship is awarded to a continuing or graduating NCCC history student who has achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better, and who is a resident of Northwest Connecticut.
Helen Case Foster Scholarship is awarded to a female student in her sophomore year.
James L. and Shirley A. Draper Scholarships are awarded to continuing, matriculated students at NCCC with demonstrated high academic standing and financial need. Recipients must be graduates of The Gilbert School or Northwestern Regional HS #7.
John A. Albani Scholarship is awarded to a Criminal Justice student. A minimum GPA of 2.50 and active participation in the Criminal Justice Student Association are required.
John G. Groppo Scholarship is awarded to a continuing deaf or hard of hearing or an Interpreter Preparation student, a veteran, or a single parent.
John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a Veterinary Technology student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship funds tuition and fees for two semesters. Marion William Edwards Scholarships are awarded to 1) a continuing Liberal Arts & Sciences student; 2) a student who is graduating and transferring with a major in a liberal arts field (preference is given for literature, journalism, or humanities.) Northwestern Community College Foundation Scholarship is a semi-annual award to be given each semester to a matriculated student. Preference is given to a student with demonstrated academic accomplishments.
Mary Ellen Serafini Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student who is transferring to a four-year college. Preference is given to a working parent.
Mildred M. Murdock Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the fine arts program of the College. Preference is given to non-traditional students with financial need and academic potential.
NCCC Student Employee of the Year Scholarship is awarded to a NCCC student employee seeking his/her first degree or certificate. Candidates must be continuing students with demonstrated financial need and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
NCCF Nursing Scholarship is given to the NCCC student with the highest grade point average who has been accepted into the Northwestern Nursing Program.
Northwestern Connecticut Community College Honors Scholarship is awarded to a continuing full-time, in-state student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. This scholarship funds tuition and fees for a period of two semesters.
Phoenix Scholars Scholarship is awarded to a full-time Business & Management Administration student. Selection criteria are based on scholastic achievement, participation in school activities, and demonstrated financial need.
Professor Gautam K. Shah Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a full-time, continuing Business & Management Administration student with demonstrated financial need and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
Professor Greg Banks Scholarship is awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 2.70 who has earned at least 30 college-level credits at NCCC. The scholarship will be awarded based on a student’s display of integrity, individuality, and communication and reasoning skills.
Professor Greg Hager Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student with a major in Liberal Arts & Sciences. The recipient must demonstrate commitment to issues of social justice and dedication to the liberal arts. Evidence of such commitment may include political activism, volunteer work, etc.
Pythian Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of The Gilbert School and is based on academic achievement and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
Raymond and Mary Banks Scholarship is awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 2.70, who is pursuing a teaching career in secondary or higher education, and who has demonstrated the personal attributes of passion for education and commitment to a strong work ethic.
Raymond W. Atcheson Scholarship is awarded to a continuing student at NCCC who has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to a mathematics or science major, a veteran of the armed forces or a single parent.
Raymond W. Atcheson Scholarship is awarded to a continuing or graduating student with a high cumulative GPA. Preference is given to a mathematics or science major or veteran of the armed forces.
Regina M. Duffy Scholarships are awarded to full-time and part-time continuing students.
Regina M. Duffy Scholarships are awarded to: 1) a graduating student majoring in one of the natural sciences who is transferring to a four-year college or university; 2) a graduating student with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Preference will be given to a student who has served in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Robert C. White Scholarship is awarded to a continuing art student who displays scholastic and artistic promise.
Ronald J. Begansky Scholarship is awarded to a continuing student in the Business & Management Administration program at NCCC. Sarino and Marguerite DiMauro Scholarship is awarded to a continuing student who has completed one year of classes with a GPA of at least 2.50, and demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, Interpreter Preparation, or Allied Health programs.
Valley Thrift Shop Scholarships are awarded to Nursing, Early Childhood Education, or Human Services students with high academic achievement.
Walter M. Jespersen III Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior of Oliver Wolcott Technical School. The recipient is selected by the HS principal on the basis of good moral character, exemplary citizenship and demonstrated scholastic ability.
