*Please note under normal circumstances, you would NOT request an NCCC book, you would find it on the shelves; however, at present, our shelving area is closed.
*You will receive an email in your official school email that the library has received your request. Staff are on campus on a limited basis, you will need to wait until the next designated curbside pickup day (specified in the request confirmation email) for a staff member to ensure your item is available.
**The morning of the next curbside pickup day you will receive an email in your official school email that your items are ready to be picked up. Please call ahead to 860-738-6480 to schedule your pickup appointment. Your item(s) will be placed on a table outside the main entrance to the library building. Campus information regarding COVID-19 is located here: https://www.nwcc.edu/coronavirus-info/
How to Request an NCCC Book
From the library home page, select Find Books, Articles, and More.
Notice the dropdown menu to the right of the search box.
Use the dropdown menu to change the search setting from Electronic Resources to NCCC Catalog (Books and DVDs).
Enter your search in the box. In this case, we will be using George Washington. Click enter to start the search.
Before you start looking at your search results, click on Sign In (in the upper right-hand corner):
Then click on “Community College signon” and enter your Net ID and password (Just like you were logging in to myCommNet):
The results list will contain books, articles, etc., and you want a book. To limit your results to just books, click on “Available at NCCC” on the left-hand side of the page:
HELPFUL HINT: If you want to look at the newest books first, click on Sort by and select Date-newest:
Look through the result list to see titles that you may find interesting. Keep in mind that the record should say “Available at” in green. If it does not say this, the book may be checked out, and directions on searching the entire CSCU system for a book are in a separate handout.
To request the book, click on the title and then the blue request button. (It may take a few seconds for the blue request button to show.)
Note that the Pickup Location defaults to NCCC. You may also add information, such as “Not Needed After” (in case your project is due soon), and Comments. Click on the green REQUEST option.
