To join Phi Theta Kappa you must receive an invitation from the PTK advisor at Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

Membership eligibility is based on the following:

  • Completion of at least 12 hours of coursework toward an Associate degree or at least 6 hours of coursework toward a 1-yearcertificate
  • A cumulative 3.5 grade point average

Members pay a one-time membership fee of $85.00. If you need financial assistance, limited funding is available.

Phi Theta Kappa membership guarantees you access to more benefits than any other student organization provides. As a member, your academic achievement will be recognized with the Golden Key Membership Pin, membership certificate, notation of membership on your transcripts and diploma, and the privilege of wearing Phi Theta Kappa regalia at graduation.

Membership also includes an array of benefits designed to help you grow as a scholar and servant leader. The local chapter allows you to network with a group of scholars on campus and hone critical leadership and business skills such as researching real-life issues in your community, working on a team to plan ways to impact or resolve those issues, learning to effectively communicate and collaborate with fellow students, faculty, administration and local businesses to improve the community, and learning to negotiate conflicts in a positive way through our Honors in Action programming. Other benefits that are available include a letter of recommendation to scholarship officials and potential employers.
