TEAS Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q: What is the TEAS?
A: The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a multiple choice test that evaluates the following skills: math, science, reading & English. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants.

Q: How do I register to take the TEAS?
A. For testing schedules and registration, go to www.atitesting.com. You must create a username and password to register. If the TEAS is taken at a site other than one of the Connecticut Community Colleges, applicants must have official results sent by ATI to the college of first choice by the application deadline.

Q: How many times can I take the TEAS?
A: Applicants may re-take the TEAS as many times as desired. The CT-CCNP will use the applicant’s highest ATI TEAS score when determining eligibility.

Q.  What do I need to bring on the day of the test?
A.  TEAS testing will be done remotely.  You must use the Chrome browser to take the TEAS, your computer must have a working camera and microphone.  You must have a recent/unexpired government-issued photo ID or you WILL NOT be able to take the test TEAS. Please have your username and password that you created when you registered for the test. You may have scrap paper and a pen/pencil. Food and drinks are NOT ALLOWED while testing. Please DO NOT bring your own calculator, an embedded calculator is available for use during the TEAS. You must be in a quiet room with a door to close, you cannot have anyone else in the room with you.

Q.  Are there any fees associated with taking the TEAS?
A.  IMPORTANT: When creating your ATI account – your institution must be Northwestern CT CC Connecticut ADN or you will not see our test dates. Students can create an ATI account at no cost.  Please check the ATI website for current TEAs testing fee amounts.

Q: Is there a book I can use to study for the TEAS?
A: The TEAS Study Manual & online practice assessments are available through www.atitesting.com. Students purchasing either of these materials should get the ATI TEAS version. NCCC has a copy of the ATI TEAS Study Package including manual and online tests available on reserve in the NCCC library.

Q. How do I receive test accommodations for my disability?
A. Students requiring accommodations must contact ATI with a request at least 30 days before their scheduled test.  Failure to contact ATI with the request may result in accommodations not being met.
